Press Release - Brussels, Belgium. 6.12.2006FEDMA launches a code on Spyware
PRESS RELEASE Brussels, 6 December 2006 At its recent Board meeting FEDMA adopted a new code on Spyware and other intrusive downloads. The code is designed to help the direct and interactive marketers as well as to provide guidance on how to avoid unacceptable downloads when marketing online.
“The most important part of any relationship between buyer and seller is trust,” said Alastair Tempest, the Director General of FEDMA. “This code, which is very closely based on self-regulation in the US, aims to help our members and all others involved in online marketing. It strongly encourages them not to include intrusive downloads in their websites, emails or other online communications which interfere or surreptitiously “spy” on consumers. A consumer – or a business – which discovers that it has unknowingly downloaded intrusive software will lose trust in e-commerce.” The said code can be found on the FEDMA website.
FEDMA is the leading European association for both on and offline marketing, representing thousands of enterprises and safeguarding their businesses.
